Championship Thinking!

Championship thinking!

What the heck is that!  I’ve seen it in all types of sports.  In my 30 yrs of training and competing I’ve witnessed thinking that is necessary to any winner.  Notice I didn’t say competitor.  Some people go to compete and some go to win.

I’ve played softball for more years than I’ve done karate.  One thing I’ve learned is that there is a team attitude and certain types of tams have it and others don’t.  There are teams that can play loose and seemingly remain unworried even in the face of a loss.  The teams that know that they will come out on top invariably will despite a bleak outlook.

The league I play in used to be a 35+ league.  There is 1 team that were Champs in our 35+ league for several years. We changed to a 18+ league because of the small number of teams and they still remain the champs.  They only lost 1 game in 4 yrs and that was to my team 3 yrs ago by 1 run and they are still furious about it.  There are now 12 teams in this softball league and they still remain on top.  Winning is a large part attitude.  This team just waits for their opportunities and the losers are always hoping they don’t lose or hoping not to lose too bad.  When you have the word lose in your head that’s kinda what you are focusing on.

To be a champion you must first be a champion in your mind!
