It will take your entire life to learn karate, there is no limit.

An old karate master once said, “It will take your entire life to learn karate, there is no limit.”
That almost sounds depressing to the beginner. That statement is not meant to make the learning of karate seem impossible or difficult, my impression is that even though you learn much, there is much more you can learn if you choose.
Learning karate is never a negative unless the person is a negative person. If a person uses karate for the wrong reasons then it can be a terrible thing.
Karate used positively can enhance someones life. It is a life changing activity. How could being stronger, healthier, more confident and more positive be bad. Not to mention the ability to defend yourself and escape many street situations.
Clearly, kids with self esteem or self confidence problems should be in karate. How can a kid who can and will fight back, be bullied. All the feel good talk doesn’t help when that bully comes calling. In spite of the no tolerance policies, the bullying continues. I’ve recently heard that incidents of bullying is at the same levels that they were years ago. Yep, tell the good kid that he’ll be punished even though he was defending himself, that should help. The bullies don’t care about punishment. They laugh at a day off. As a matter of fact it wouldn’t surprise me that they beat up someone just to get a day off. Let’s help the good kids.
Yes, a lifetime of training in karate can change one’s life. How can it not change you?
It will take your entire life to learn karate, there is no limit.
Or, what will you do in your spare time???
