Golden Nuggets.

A great Martial Artist friend once referred to tidbits of information as golden nuggets.
I’ve been training for 33 yrs at this point and have a bucket full of golden nuggets.
I’ve taken many courses, seminars and visited many other schools in search of that next nugget.
Many times I’ve picked up the next nugget off of a lower belt or someone, that one would not expect to have a nugget for you. You have to keep your eyes open and listen to the ideas of others. Black Belts are not the exclusive owners of logic and common sense.
I’m still picking them up all over the place.
Sensei Lorrie and I attended a big karate symposium recently and I was invited to teach a portion and while I was there I also trained in many of the classes that were offered. I think many people think that when they achieve a black belt that they have nothing else to learn. That is so wrong. I’m a sixth degree black belt in shotokan karate and have black belts in other styles and I’m constantly learning new things.
I think the act of learning new things keeps your training new and fresh. I also think that learning new things and training keeps you young.
Come on guys look for that next Golden Nugget. It’s there!
