Today I’m officially an old man. Not inside though. People say that you should act your age. Naw, I say shut up! I still play softball, just competed and took first in a National event recently and just bought a ping pong table this summer. I’m not going to age gracefully. I don’t have arthritis, dementia (I don’t think so), and I work out like a fiend. I recently told my dad that I could do over 100 push ups for the first time in my life. A friend of his said naw, he can’t do that he must mean he does them in sets. I said a few choice words and said I’ll bet him $1000. I then told him that I did 106 that day and then did sets while doing katas. I did around 600 that day. A couple days ago I started my workout with 110 a new max and then proceeded to do all 27 shotokan katas with 33 pushups in between and finished with a couple extra to do a total of 1003 in a 2 hr workout. I’m not trying to impress anyone, I’m just saying that if you want to do something just do it. Doesn’t mean you will compete in the Olympics but there are a couple people in the Olympics over 30 and older.
I’m pleased that I started what I called the 100 pushup quest and have completed it. I vowed that I would be able to do 100 pushups at age 60 and I’m there. I retired almost 4 years ago but not from karate and not from life!
Thanks everyone who has been part of my life, health and happiness! Now I have to go do my pushups!
