Sensei Culver holds the rank of 6th Degree Black Belt and has been training in Shotokan Karate for over 40 years. Sensei Culver received his 6th Degree Black Belt promotion on May 31, 2010, from Sensei William Viola of Allegheny Shotokan Karate (2nd pic). Shihan Culver traveled to California in February of 2020 to test in front of panel of prestigious black belts headed by Sensei Fumio Demura an internationally recognized master of Karate and Kobudo. Sensei Demura is the Founder of the Genbukai and Rengokai karate organizations. Culver Karate Club is now a member of the Rengokai which is an organization open to Shotokan (the main style that Shihan Culver has studied) and other Japanese styles of karate.
Sensei Perry Culver also holds the rank of Shodan 2nd Degree Black Belt in Syu Sin Do under the direction of Grand Master Roger Miller (3rd pic). Syu Sin Do is a style based on the principles of joint manipulation and pressure point application.

Sensei Culver went on to train with Sensei Jack Bodell (a well known Instructor and competitor in karate and kickboxing, who has turned out many national and international champions). Sensei Culver earned a Black Belt with Sensei Bodell in the School of Orthodox Shotokan Karate. He later started training with Sensei William Viola of Allegheny Shotokan Karate in North Huntingdon, Pa. Sensei Culver achieved his 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th under the tutelage of Shihan Viola
He has also trained in many seminars and camps with many notable Masters including: Kenneth Funakoshi, Osamu Ozawa, Professor Wally Jay, Fumio Demura (Stunt man and karate advisor in the Original Karate Kid Movie), Hidi Ochai, Rick Clark and Michael Dipasquale Jr just to mention a few.
Sensei Culver has earned certifications as a Police PR24 Instructor, Certified Police Monadnock Straight Baton Instructor, ASP straight baton and as a CDT Tactical Master. Sensei Culver has also earned certification as an Aerobic Kickboxing instructor and started the first aerobic kickboxing class in the area. Sensei Culver is certified to teach the Little Ninjas Program for 4 to 6 yr olds a program by the National Association of Professional Martial Artists.
Clarence (Bud) Hibbard
Clarence is a Sandan (3rd Degree Black Belt) in Shotokan at Culver Karate Club and a Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) in the Rengokai.
Senpai Clarence has won many championships included several State and National Championships.
Clarence is a competitor and Instructor in Karate and in Jujitsu.
Clarence is versed in all forms of self defense taught at Culver Karate and is a former AMAC Instructor with the PA Corrections at Fayette County.
