Symposium Fun!

On February 16th I taught for the first time at the Kwamukwan Symposium. It was a blast. I taught a class and the took 3 other very interesting classes and sat in on several others. The Kwamukwan Symposium was a 3 day convention covering every imaginable Martial Arts topic including grappling, MMA, Ju JIsu, All sorts of Karate fight classes and Martial arts weapons.
I taught a class on Tae Sabaki. Most people don’t know what that is but it’s simply the art of body shifting. In all martial arts one must learn how to effectively get out of the way. Sometimes simple things are the most important. Several middle aged women came up to me after the class and said wow that will really help me. Effective blocking is an important part of any martial arts but if you add movement into the blocks It really enhances both the effectiveness and the power of your blocks.
A bull fighter understands this. So does the great running backs in football. Making someone miss is an art and can make you survive an attack or fight.
Now you know Tai Sabaki is not something you order at a Japanese restaurant but is an important part of being a good fighter.
